Our Humble Beginnings
It all started in a small Los Angeles garage in the 1990s. Our founder, an avid photographer, was frustrated with the high costs of lighting equipment from major brands. He believed that budget should not be a barrier to creativity. So he set out to produce his own affordable, high-performance strobe lights and accessories.
Word of these innovative lighting products quickly spread across the local photography community. As demand grew, that single-car garage was no longer sufficient. In 1997, Cowboy Studio® was officially launched out of a modest 2000 sq ft warehouse. We started with just 5 employees – but our commitment to helping all creators, regardless of budget or skill level, remained the same.
Growth Through Trust
In the early 2000s, we expanded our catalog to offer a full range of photography and videography gear. Tripods, backdrops, reflectors, wireless triggers – you name it. But we never compromised on quality or affordability. Our reputation for delivering exceptional value spread well beyond Los Angeles.
By the mid 2000s, Cowboy Studio® was serving customers nationwide. In response, we moved our operations into a 50,000 sq ft facility to meet the demand. Now with over 100 employees, we continued to win the trust of the creator community through reliable products and friendly service.
In the 2010s, we launched our online store to share our passion for accessible creativity with even more customers worldwide. The positive response was overwhelming. Today, Cowboy Studio® ships to over 40 countries, empowering creators across the globe.
